Recommendations for Cancer Prevention

  1. Be as lean as possible within the normal range of body weight.
  2. Be physically active as part of everyday life
  3. Limit consumption of energy-dense foods; avoid sugary drinks.
  4. Eat mostly foods of plant origin. Eat only fresh food.
  5. Limit consumption of salt; avoid mouldy cereals (grains) and mouldy pulses (legumes).
  6. Limit intake of red, farmed and inactive meat; avoid processed meat.
  7. Limit alcoholic drinks.
  8. Aim to meet nutritional needs through diet alone.

This is an area of controversy. Supplements are valuable because we do not regularly get the vitamin intake we need from the food we eat, partly because of what we eat or don’t eat, and particularly because much of the food available is deficient in vitamins as well.
